iGarden K70 Review: Is This the Best Cordless Pool Cleaner of 2026? Real Gold Coast Pool Test

MrYouWho
Real-World Tech Reviews

Look at that pool behind me — sparkling, the floor's spotless, the waterline's clean, and the Gold Coast sun is bouncing off it. But it wasn't always that way. After a windy day it was full of leaves, twigs, sand and even a few rocks sitting on the bottom. We swim in this pool pretty much every day, so it has to be clean. The only thing I did to fix it? Pressed a button on the iGarden K70 and dropped it in. Today's my full review — is this the best cordless pool cleaner of 2026?

If you follow the channel, you know we do a lot of pool cleaner reviews — we've had the iGarden K150 Pro in this exact pool, plus plenty of others. So this is a real-world test: a real backyard pool in Surfers Paradise, real leaves, real sand and real Gold Coast weather. We'll unbox it, set it up on the touchscreen, run a full-coverage clean on a dirty pool, try Turbo on the heavy stuff, check the basket, then set up the app and AI timer. One honest note up front: the app is fairly basic — more on that below.

01Unboxing & Design: A Race Car for Your Pool

Straight out of the box, it's got the same sporty look as the K150 Pro — and honestly, I love it. It's like a little race car sitting in your pool. Pick it up and it feels solid: 9.8kg, which is enough weight to grip the pool surface properly, but still easy to carry to the edge and drop in. It measures 489 × 389 × 240mm, so it's a decent-sized robot that doesn't take up much room on the pool deck.

On top there's a touchscreen built right into the robot — it feels more like using a phone than a pool cleaner. Underneath is a physical power switch: flick it on the first time you use it, and off if you're putting it away for a while. It also comes with a 3-year warranty, and for something that lives in chlorine and Gold Coast sun, that matters. Most pool cleaners I've tested don't offer that.

02Setup: Touchscreen, Four Modes & Cycle Lengths

Setup is dead simple, and you've got two ways to do it: straight from the touchscreen on the robot, or through the app. Press to turn it on, the screen lights up, and you pick your program. There are four cleaning modes:

Floor only, walls and waterline only, walls and waterline first, then the floor, or full coverage if you want the lot. Then choose your cycle length — 1 hour, 1.5 hours, 2 hours, or Max if you're heading off to work. So if you just want to grab it, pick a mode and throw it in, you can. That's exactly what we did.

03The Dirty Pool Test: Full Coverage After a Windy Day

Here's what we were up against: leaves, twigs, dirt, rocks and a bit of sand on the bottom after a windy Gold Coast day. With all the trees around this pool plus sand from the waterways, it gets messy fast. I selected full coverage, pressed start, and dropped it in — nice and easy.

About 15 minutes in, it had already picked up a lot of debris and was still working through the pool. Half an hour in, the floor was sparkling clean and it moved on to the walls. I didn't touch it once. It moves at around 10–12 metres a minute, so it gets through a pool quickly — sometimes fast, sometimes slower, and sometimes it goes back over a spot again just to get it right.

Sped up: around 10–12 metres a minute, and I didn't touch it once.

What I noticed straight away is that it moves with purpose. It doesn't just bounce around randomly like some of the older robots I've used. iGarden's 3D path navigation does long, organised runs across the floor, then moves onto the walls and waterline. Watch it for a minute and you can see it covering the pool properly instead of guessing.

Underneath, it runs brushless motors and a turbine-style impeller moving between 15,000 and 22,000 litres of water an hour — about 5,800 gallons an hour at full power. That's serious suction, and you can see it pulling up leaves and the fine stuff, with two rubber brushes at the front scrubbing as it goes. There's also what iGarden calls an AI inverter: it works harder when there's more debris and saves battery where the pool's already clean, drawing between 20 and 100W depending on what it's doing.

And the battery is the big one: a 7Ah, 192Wh battery. It charges at 2A and takes around 5 hours to fill. iGarden quotes up to 7 hours of cleaning on floor only, or 3 hours 45 minutes on full coverage with walls and waterline. That's a huge amount for a cordless pool cleaner, and it changes how you think about using it.

05Walls, Waterline & Awkward Spots

Climbing is a big one for me. It goes straight off the floor and up the wall, with anti-slip tracks keeping it gripped all the way up. Then it runs along the waterline, cleaning about 5cm above the water — that's where sunscreen, grime and that oily ring sit. That's the bit I used to do by hand with a brush.

This pool has corners, steps and a couple of awkward spots, and it handled them all well — the steps and the drain were no problem. It's rated for pools up to 6 × 12 metres and 1 to 2.5 metres deep, which covers most backyard pools — in-ground or above-ground, rectangular or otherwise, and fibreglass, vinyl and more.

06Turbo Mode: Rocks, Twigs & Heavy Stuff

After the first run, I took it out and switched on Turbo, which gives you 200% more suction. It's there for when you want more bite — heavier stuff like twigs and big piles. We had some rocks in there, and on Turbo it got them out fine. It's handy on walls too.

You don't have to use Turbo — it cleans well without it — but even on Turbo you still get around 3 hours 15 minutes on floor or 2 hours 45 minutes on full coverage. Still plenty.

07The Basket & Filter

When it's finished, it parks at the waterline, so you just reach in and lift it out. At 9.8kg it's easy, and the water drains out quickly. Open it up and — wow, so much debris. It washes out in seconds.

The basket is 4 litres, which is a good size — it won't fill up unless the pool's really loaded with leaves. Inside is a standard 180-micron filter, which picks up the sand, pollen and finer stuff. Pull it out, rinse, put it back in. Very easy.

08The App & AI Timer: Set and Forget

The app was straightforward to set up. You'll need Bluetooth or 2.4GHz Wi-Fi — so make sure your Wi-Fi is on 2.4. From the app you can change cleaning modes, pick a cycle length, turn on Turbo, check the battery and set the AI timer. But the app is quite basic. Some pool cleaners give you detail on what's been cleaned and when; this one doesn't. It's not a deal-breaker, but I'd love to see more.

The AI timer is where the K70 really earns its place. Set it to run every 24, 48 or 72 hours and it stays in the pool, wakes itself up and cleans on its own. Run an hour of floor cleaning every 3 days and you get around 16 days out of a charge. iGarden says one charge can cover up to 672m² of pool. If you keep your pool tidy like I do, you can just leave it on normal mode and it does the job — genuinely set and forget.

One thing to know: there's no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth once it's underwater — signals don't travel through water — so you can't change settings mid-clean. That's standard for every pool cleaner I've tried.

09iGarden K70 vs K150 Pro

We've had the K150 Pro in this pool too, so how does the K70 compare? Same kind of look, same 4L basket, same four modes and cycle lengths, and both climb walls and do the waterline just as well. What the K70 adds is the touchscreen on the robot, the AI timer that lets it sit in the pool and clean for days, and up to seven hours of run time.

★A cordless pool cleaner that looks after the pool by itself

The Verdict & Who It's For

What I love most: press the button, put it in the pool, and it gets on with it. It turned a leafy, sandy, rock-strewn pool into a sparkling one without me touching it once. It cleans properly, climbs the walls confidently, scrubs the waterline where the sunscreen grime lives, and the 4L basket with its 180-micron filter catches the sand and pollen too. The AI timer is the standout — leave it in the pool and it cleans every few days on its own. Add the 3-year warranty and that race-car design, and it's a great upgrade on the K150 Pro.

The catches, honestly: the app is basic — you can change modes, Turbo and the timer, but there's no cleaning history or detail about what it's done. Like every pool cleaner, you can't control it once it's underwater, and the app needs 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (not 5GHz). The headline 7 hours is floor-only — full coverage is closer to 3 hours 45, and a full charge takes around 5 hours.

Who's it for? Anyone with a backyard pool up to 6 × 12m who wants it looking after itself — especially if you've got trees, wind or sand blowing in. If you want detailed app stats on every clean, you might find the app a bit thin. But if you just want a clean pool without thinking about it, the K70 is a great option.

What I Love

  • Up to 7 hrs run time on floor-only
  • AI timer — stays in the pool and cleans for days
  • Organised navigation, strong wall and waterline cleaning
  • Turbo pulls up rocks and heavy debris
  • On-robot touchscreen + 3-year warranty

Watch Out For

  • Basic app — no cleaning history or detail
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only
  • No control once it's underwater
  • Full coverage is ~3h45, not 7 hrs
  • ~5 hr charge time
