Freebeat Lyric Video Review: I Made 4 Songs From Nothing — and the Lyrics Live Inside the Video

Freebeat Lyric Video Review: AI Lyric Video Generator Tested

Real-World Tech Reviews
Andy from MrYouWho with images from his earlier Freebeat AI music video reviews, back for Freebeat Lyric Video
My fourth Freebeat video — and this time the lyrics are built into the world of the video.

A tiny mouse in a tuxedo, singing his heart out on a red velvet theatre stage — and the lyrics aren't subtitles I slapped on afterwards. They're built into the stage, the scenery and the world around him. That's Freebeat's brand new Lyric Video, and this is now my fourth Freebeat video. I keep coming back to this thing, because every time I use it I end up making something completely different. This time I made four songs from absolutely nothing — a crooner mouse, a heartbreak anthem, a love song about me and Ronnie on the Gold Coast, and the MrYouWho theme song with an AI me on a tech review set.

Today I'm showing you exactly how I did it: creating the music from a prompt, turning it into a lyric video, the automatic side where Freebeat makes the creative calls for you, and the editing side where you take more control. Then we look honestly at what came back — because some of it is absolutely brilliant, and some of it needed a second go. Quick heads-up: this is a brand partnership with Freebeat, and every song in this video was created inside Freebeat, so there's no borrowed music anywhere in it.

01What Is Freebeat Lyric Video?

Freebeat is an AI music and music video platform, and Lyric Video is the newest feature. Instead of putting words across the bottom of a music video, Freebeat makes the lyrics part of what you're watching — on screens, in the scenery, written in the sand, floating in the sky. It sounds like a small thing, but it changes how the video feels. The words come up at the big moments and you're pulled into the journey with the artist. It's far more emotional and far more immersive than captions.

Not subtitles — the lyrics are part of the world of the video.

The other half of the trick is that Freebeat can generate the music too. So you can start with a ridiculous idea in your head and finish with an original song and a finished lyric video in the same place. If you've followed along, we've done a lot of these now — AI music videos with me in them, MrYouWho channel trailers (including one for my JBL review), and last time Freebeat 2.0 with real-time generation and character lock, where I watched the video build itself in front of me. A couple of those went well over 100,000 views, so thanks heaps for watching.

03Song 1: A Crooner Song About a Tiny Mouse — From Nothing

I'm starting with my favourite, because this little guy is brilliant. I decided I was making an old-school crooner song about a tiny mouse who dreams of becoming a singer. I don't know why — it just came into my head, and that's half the fun of using this.

In Freebeat I went to the music generator first, because we were starting with absolutely nothing. There are different AI models you can choose from. I told it what I wanted: an old-school big band crooner ballad — brass, strings, that smoky late-night theatre sound, Frank Sinatra style — and a story about a little mouse who grew up under the floorboards of an old theatre, listening to all the amazing singers, waiting for his chance to get up there himself. Prompt in, pick a model, hit create, and a few moments later we had an actual song. From a ridiculous idea to a real crooner track.

04Turning It Into a Lyric Video: Auto Create vs the Full Editor

Next, you take the song, put the lyrics in, and set up what you want visually — this is where you start giving Freebeat the story. I asked for the mouse in a little tuxedo and bow tie, a huge old theatre, red velvet curtains, a microphone, one spotlight, and the big moment where he finally gets to perform.

Then you press a button and it starts planning the video before it generates — working out the concept, the visual direction, and how the different scenes will work with the song. In the past you'd do all of that yourself: the storyboard, the thinking, the analysing. Here it's done for you.

Song in, lyrics in, visual story in — then Freebeat plans the concept, visual direction and scenes before it generates.

You've got two ways to work. Auto create lets Freebeat make the creative decisions — I'm busy a lot of the time, so I like that. Just know that if you let it create by itself, it sometimes won't get the story you had in your head. If you have something specific in mind, go to the full editing side and shape it yourself: change the scenes, change the direction, and take control instead of accepting whatever it gives you.

Auto create makes the calls for you; the full editor lets you shape the scenes and direction yourself.

05The Result: A Mouse in a Tuxedo, Lyrics on the Stage

Sorry — I couldn't stop singing along. Look at him. I absolutely love this little bloke. Tuxedo, the theatre, the stage, and the lyrics are happening inside his world rather than sitting across the bottom of the screen. It adds so much emotion and so much impact.

Honestly though, it wasn't perfect first time. The first time I generated him, he didn't sing. Everything looked great, but he was just standing there, not actually performing. It took another pass to get the performance — and the lots of on-screen words — that the song needed. Worth knowing before you burn credits.

06Song 2: A Piano Rock Heartbreak Song, Dark to Light

I didn't want to show you four versions of the same thing, so next I went emotional. I created a piano rock song about heartbreak — Coldplay-style, which I really like — starting really quietly and building into a big chorus. Visually I wanted a guy alone after the rain, coffee cup sitting there, everything cold and blue at the start, and as the song builds he starts moving forward and gets outside with hope.

Same process: create the song, build the lyric video, tell Freebeat what I want, and let it build the whole video around the song and the lyrics. And look how different it is from the mouse. It starts dark and cold, then the colour changes as the song changes. The lyrics appear through the actual scenes as the story progresses, with the big text popping up at the big moments. It really is good.

07Song 3: A Love Song for Me and Ronnie at Main Beach

Then I wanted something a lot more personal. I uploaded a photo of me and Ronnie and made a warm acoustic love song about our life here on the Gold Coast, built around the line "I keep a picture of you." I wanted it set at Main Beach with the Surfers Paradise skyline behind us, because that's where we actually are. I didn't want it to be us exactly — I wanted it based on us.

Freebeat analysed the song and broke it into intro, verses, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge and outro, then planned the video around that structure. It even picked up that I'm a bald bloke in a blue singlet. It built a whole day around us at Main Beach — walking along the beach, having coffee, sitting together in the dunes, walking along the water. And the lyrics appear in the sand and in the sky around us. It takes what would have just been a song and makes it something genuinely touching. The raw emotion of the two of us together on the Gold Coast — I didn't expect AI to land that.

One photo upload became a whole day at Main Beach — with the lyrics written into the sand and sky.

08Song 4: The MrYouWho Theme Song as a Lyric Video

Finally, we had to do MrYouWho. I've used the MrYouWho theme through three big videos now, so I took the song we created previously and put it into Lyric Video. I wanted me in the MrYouWho shirt, the tech review environment, the products, the boxes and monitors — and make it live. Upload, prompts in, hit create.

And that's me. Well — AI me. I love seeing the MrYouWho lyrics actually appearing around the set. The lip sync isn't perfect all the way through, but that's not what I was after — I wanted a fun video I could actually use, and it lands and looks fantastic. Considering I'm not standing on a set filming a music video, I'm sitting here creating the whole thing with AI, that's still pretty wild.

09Music Rights, Plans & Pricing

As always, make sure you've got the rights to whatever music you use. I created all of my own songs in Freebeat, partly because we can't use copyrighted music on the channel. If you're using AI-generated music, check the terms for how you can use it — and don't assume someone else's video gives you the rights to somebody else's music.

Freebeat has different plans depending on what you want to make and how much you're creating. Plans and pricing change, so check the current options on Freebeat before you commit — but with 500 free credits for new users, you can start there and have a proper play first. If you go Pro, my link gets you 10% off your first Pro membership.

"The big thing for me is that the lyrics finally have something to do. They're not just sitting at the bottom while another video plays behind them — they're part of the world." — Andy, MrYouWho

The Verdict & Who It's For

What I love most: the lyrics finally have something to do visually. And because Freebeat generates the music as well, you can start with nothing but an idea and end up with an original song and a finished lyric video in the same place — a full production suite in one app. It plans the scenes for you, reads the song structure, and somehow I ended up genuinely caring whether a tiny mouse gets his big break. That's probably why I'm on my fourth Freebeat video.

The catches, honestly: it doesn't always nail it first go — my mouse didn't sing on the first generation, and that costs credits. Auto create is fast but won't always tell the story you had in mind, so for anything specific you'll want the full editor. The lip sync on the MrYouWho video isn't perfect all the way through. And music rights are on you — use songs you made or have the rights to. Plans vary, so check current pricing before you go Pro.

Who's it for? Creators, musicians, anyone who wants a channel trailer, a lyric video for an original song, or something personal for someone they love. If you've got ideas in your head and no film crew, this is a lot of fun. If you want frame-perfect lip sync for a professional music release, expect to spend time in the editor.

?Frequently Asked Questions

What is Freebeat Lyric Video?+

It's Freebeat's AI lyric video generator. Instead of subtitles across the bottom, it builds the lyrics into the world of the video — on screens, in the scenery, in the sand and the sky — and plans the concept, visuals and scenes around your song.

Can Freebeat make the song as well as the video?+

Yes. Freebeat has an AI music generator with multiple models. You describe the genre, mood and story, hit create, and it makes the song — then you turn that song into a lyric video in the same place. All four songs in my review were made from nothing in Freebeat.

How do I make a lyric video with AI?+

Create or upload your song, add the lyrics, describe what you want visually, then either let auto create make the creative decisions or use the full editor to change scenes and direction yourself. Freebeat analyses the song's structure — intro, verses, chorus, bridge, outro — and builds the video around it.

Can I put myself in an AI music video?+

Yes — upload a photo and Freebeat bases the characters on you. I uploaded a photo of me and Ronnie and it picked up details like my bald head and blue singlet, then built a whole day at Main Beach on the Gold Coast around us.

Is Freebeat free?+

New users get 500 free credits to start, and it's available on iOS, Android and the web. Beyond that there are different paid plans depending on how much you create — check Freebeat for current pricing. My link gets you 10% off your first Pro membership.

Is the lip sync good?+

It's good enough for fun videos, trailers and personal projects, but not perfect all the way through — I noticed it slipping in places on my MrYouWho theme song video. Some generations also need a second go; my mouse didn't sing the first time.

Can I use copyrighted songs in Freebeat?+

Only if you have the rights to them. The safest route is creating your own music inside Freebeat, like I did, and checking the terms for how AI-generated music can be used. Don't assume another video gives you the rights to someone else's song.
