Real-World Tech Reviews
Andy from MrYouWho at his home office desk lit by the LitONES EaseGlow H01 double-sided desk lamp
My desk after the switch — one light doing the job of two, and a lot less squinting by the end of the night.

As a busy content creator I'm at a desk for hours — editing, filming, answering brand emails — and for years I got by on a cheap little desk lamp. By the end of the night I'd have eye strain, dry eyes, and I'd catch myself leaning right back in the chair just to get away from the screen. So I went looking for a proper home office lighting setup, not just another little desk lamp: something that lights the whole workspace, softens the contrast behind the monitor, and still looks good on a clean desk. That's how I ended up with the LitONES EaseGlow H01 — a double-sided desk light that lights your desk and the wall behind your screen.

Today I'm testing it properly. Unboxing and setup, then real use: focused work, late-night editing, reading and video calls, the lounge room, and bright room versus dark room. I even swap out my studio lights mid-video to show you what it does to my face on camera. Then I'll tell you honestly whether it's made a difference to my eye strain — and whether it's worth your money.

01What Is the LitONES EaseGlow H01?

The EaseGlow H01 is a home office light from LitONES' EaseGlow series, and there's a very similar H02 alongside it. The big idea is a double-sided lighting system: one side lights your desk, the other throws a soft wash of light up the wall behind your monitor. The point is to make your desk and the wall behind it more evenly lit, which in theory should be much easier on your eyes than a single bright spot on the keyboard.

If you spend hours at a computer — working from home, studying, creating content — this might be one of the most important upgrades you can make that isn't a monitor or a chair.

02Unboxing & Setup

Out of the box you get the lamp, the desk clamp, a power brick and cable, and a small wireless rotary remote that lives on your desk. My box had done the usual shipping journey, so I won't dwell on the cardboard.

Installation is simple: clamp it to the back of the desk, slide the metal arm into place, plug in power, and you're done. No tools, no wiring — it took me a couple of minutes. The whole body is metal and feels solid. LitONES rates the LEDs to around 100,000 hours and backs the EaseGlow with a 3-year warranty, which is about double what you normally see on cheaper desk clamps.

03The Desk Test: Dark Room vs Lit

First, my desk with just the monitor and normal room light. The screen is bright, the background is comparatively dark, and your eyes are constantly adjusting between the two. That contrast is what actually wears your eyes down over a long session.

Then I switch the LitONES on — and I also ran it from completely dark to lit. Straight away the desk and keyboard are evenly lit, and the wall behind the monitor gets a soft wash of light. That's the layered double-sided system at work: roughly 80% of the brightness aimed down at your main workspace and around 20% aimed backwards to lift the background. Instead of one bright spot in a dark box, the whole room feels balanced and the whole area feels really well lit.

The first evenings I used it, the difference was pretty obvious. Normally after hours of editing my eyes feel dry and a bit sore. With this on, the screen doesn't feel like a torch in my face anymore, and I'm not squinting every time I look away from it. It just feels calmer.

About 80% of the light goes down onto the desk and 20% goes back up the wall — so your eyes aren't jumping between a bright screen and a dark room.

04The Swing Arm & Dual Monitors

The arm is a big part of why it works so well. It's about a 33-inch swing arm with multiple joints, so it moves all around the place — pull it up and over dual monitors, push it to the side, raise it, drop it, whatever you want. LitONES says it can comfortably cover up to a 60-inch desk, and from what I've seen, that's accurate. If you're running two monitors like I am, you get light across both without moving the base.

The other nice thing: because the light is soft and diffused, the monitors don't tend to shine back at you. And you can control it from the touch controls on the lamp head too, not just the remote.

05The Filming Test: EaseGlow vs My Studio Lights

This is the one I was curious about. Mid-video, I switched off the studio lighting I normally use and filmed with just the LitONES. It gives a lovely natural light that really makes you shine — so you genuinely can use this to film YouTube videos if you want to. Dial the brightness down and it goes beautifully soft; change the colours and the whole look changes. You can also see the products on the desk behind me really clearly — it lights up the whole room, and I'd probably say it's just as good as my studio light.

So why wouldn't I use it for filming? Shadow. The studio light I've got is set up so it throws no shadow at all, and a desk light coming from one side just can't do that. For video calls it's brilliant; for proper YouTube filming, it's a great fill but not a full replacement.

Studio lights off, EaseGlow on — lovely natural light on camera, though it can't match a studio light for zero shadow.

06The Rotary Remote & My Three Favourite Settings

Instead of reaching up to the lamp or fiddling with tiny buttons, you've got the wireless rotary remote on the desk, and you can adjust everything just by feel. Rotate it to change brightness, or change the colour temperature from a warm 2700K up to a cool 6500K. You don't actually have to look at it either — I just nudge it as I'm working.

There are 10 brightness levels and 5 main colour temperatures, which gives you up to 50 combinations. In day-to-day use, I ended up with three favourites:

Focus work (daytime)

A cooler white around 4,000–5,000K at about 40–50% brightness. It feels like natural daylight without being harsh.

Video calls

The built-in video conferencing mode. One tap and it sets a flattering, even light on your face, brings out detail, and thanks to a CRI of 95+ colours look natural: my skin tone doesn't go weird orange or ghostly white like it does with some cheap ring lights.

Late-night emails & reading

A warm tone around 2700–3000K at maybe 20% brightness. It feels like a cosy lamp rather than a floodlight that keeps my brain wired — and it helps me sleep.

07Flicker-Free & Edge-Lit: The Eye-Health Bit

If you care about eye health, flickering is important. A lot of low-quality lamps look fine at first, but film them in slow motion and you'll see heavy strobing — and that constant flicker can contribute to eye strain and headaches over time. The EaseGlow uses a flicker-free driver. I tested it on my camera in high-speed video: no bars, no rolling flicker, the light looks solid. Subjectively, my eyes feel less tired after long sessions.

The LEDs are also edge-lit, similar to something like an Elgato Key Light. Instead of staring at a row of naked LEDs, the light is diffused and very, very soft — you don't get harsh spots on the desk, and if you angle it properly there's no annoying glare on your screen.

08Living With It: Memory, Posture & One Lamp Instead of Two

A few quality-of-life things I noticed using it as my main home office light:

It remembers your settings. Once you've dialled in your preferred brightness and colour temperature, you turn it off — and even after a power cut — it comes back exactly the same. It's a small thing, but it means you don't redo everything every time you sit down.

It works with whatever posture I'm in. Standing at the desk, I pivot it up and angle it down. Leaning back in the chair with a book or tablet, I bring it forward and tilt the light onto the page. It's easy to get the light where you need it.

I stopped adding extra lamps. Over a week or two I noticed I'd stopped putting little lamps behind me. Before this I'd use a normal desk lamp plus a separate background light just to take the edge off. Now the EaseGlow does both jobs at once — task lighting and ambient lighting. And the arm doesn't sag once you set it.

09EaseGlow H01 vs H02

A few of you have asked about the H02. The H01 is the one I'm using — the main, clamp-mounted model. The H02 is extremely similar in real-world use: same double-sided lighting concept, same style of arm and remote, with some small spec and design differences (LitONES lists the H02 on a base rather than a clamp). In terms of how they light your desk and background, and how comfortable they feel on your eyes, they're very much in the same family. There's a discount code for each above if you want to compare.

★A proper home office light, not just another desk lamp

The Verdict & Who It's For

What I love most: the double-sided light reduces the contrast between the screen and the room, so the screen stops feeling like a torch in your face and my eyes feel calmer after long editing nights. The ~33in arm gives very flexible positioning over single or dual monitors, the light is flicker-free and soft with high colour accuracy, the wireless remote is one I genuinely use all the time, the video conferencing mode makes calls look good in one tap, and it remembers your settings. Add the metal build, long-life LEDs and 3-year warranty, and it's more of a long-term investment than a throwaway accessory.

The catches, honestly: it's a great light on camera, but I still wouldn't swap my studio lights for it — coming from one side, it throws shadow that a proper studio light doesn't. You need to angle it properly to keep glare off your screen. And this is a week or two of daily use, not a long-term test — so I can't vouch for that 100,000-hour LED rating myself; that's LitONES' figure, backed by their 3-year warranty.

Who's it for? If you sit at a desk even half an hour a day, you can use this. But if you work from home, do long hours editing like I do, code, design, or spend a lot of time in front of a monitor, good lighting is as important as a good chair or monitor — and that's where the EaseGlow H01 (or H02) makes sense. It's now part of our office setup going forward.

?Frequently Asked Questions

Is the LitONES EaseGlow H01 good for eye strain?+

In my testing, yes. Its double-sided light puts about 80% of the brightness on your desk and 20% on the wall behind your monitor, which cuts the harsh contrast between a bright screen and a dark room. Add a flicker-free driver and soft edge-lit LEDs, and my eyes felt noticeably less dry and tired after long editing sessions.

What's the difference between the LitONES H01 and H02?+

They're very much the same family — same double-sided lighting concept, same style of arm and wireless remote — with small spec and design differences. The H01 is the clamp-mounted main model I tested; LitONES lists the H02 on a base instead of a clamp.

Is there a LitONES discount code?+

Yes — use MRUWHONES for 10% off at the LitONES Official Store. There are also model-specific codes: MRUWHONES1 for the H01 and MRUWHONES2 for the H02.

Can the LitONES EaseGlow light two monitors?+

Yes. The roughly 33-inch multi-joint swing arm reaches across a dual-monitor setup, and LitONES says it covers up to a 60-inch desk. I run two monitors and get light across both without moving the base.

Is the LitONES desk lamp flicker-free?+

Yes — it uses a flicker-free driver. I tested it on my camera in high-speed video and saw no bars or rolling flicker, which is where cheap lamps usually give themselves away.

Can you use the LitONES EaseGlow for video calls or YouTube?+

For video calls it's excellent — there's a one-tap video conferencing mode, and CRI 95+ keeps skin tones natural. I also filmed part of my review with it and it looks great. I'd still keep my studio lights for YouTube, though, because a desk light coming from one side throws some shadow.

What warranty does the LitONES EaseGlow have?+

LitONES backs the EaseGlow with a 3-year warranty and rates the LEDs for up to 100,000 hours — roughly twice what you'd expect from older, cheaper lamps.
