Beatbot AquaSense Pro — One Year Later: Is It Still the Best Cordless Pool Cleaner?
About a year ago I reviewed the Beatbot AquaSense Pro here in my own pool on the Gold Coast, and it impressed me — a cordless robotic pool cleaner that did the surface, the floor, the walls and the waterline without me lifting a finger. Since then it's been working away in that same pool, through leaves, wind and a full Queensland summer of sunscreen and oil. So the question now is the one that actually matters when you're spending real money: a year later, does it still clean like it did on day one — and is it still worth it in 2026?
Today I put it back in the pool and ran it through everything again — surface skimming, floor mode, wall climbing, waterline scrubbing and parking, the app, retrieval and the filter. One honest note up front: this is my one-year check-in based on everyday use in a single backyard pool. I didn't run a lab-style battery-health or wear measurement, so I'll tell you what I've seen and where the gaps are.

01One Year Later: Still Going Strong?
Short answer: yes. After twelve months of regular use the AquaSense Pro is still doing the whole pool in not much time at all, and the pool looks great afterwards — during the day and lit up at night. It's still the same story it was on day one: drop it in, walk away, come back to a clean pool.
What makes it work is the combination — the scrubbing brushes, the way it picks up debris on the surface and the floor, and a filter basket that catches the fine stuff. A year in, none of that has dropped off in a way I've noticed in my pool.
02What's in the Box & Wireless Charging
First impression, even now: it's built like a tank, but it still looks sleek — properly high-end pool gear. It's cordless, which already sets it apart from traditional pool cleaners with a hose or a cable trailing round the pool.
In the box you get the main unit, a charging dock, a retrieval hook and a clarifier pod for that extra sparkle in the water. Charging is wireless — you just sit it on the dock. No plugging in, no fiddling with seals or cables. There's one-click activation and an LED panel showing the battery in real time. Press the power button, let it calibrate on a level surface for a few seconds, and in it goes.
03Surface Cleaning: Skimming the Leaves
This is the mode I love for a pool like mine, with plenty of greenery around it. The AquaSense Pro moves along the top of the water, skimming and collecting floating leaves and debris before they get a chance to sink and settle on the floor.
And it's quiet. I can sit out in the backyard and still enjoy the peace — which is exactly what you want from something running in your pool on a Sunday arvo.
04Floor Mode: S-Pattern Path Planning
On the floor it switches to an S-shaped pattern with intelligent path planning, covering the pool without wasting time going back over the same spots. You can see it adjusting as it goes — getting into tight corners and navigating around the steps rather than bumping and wandering.
05Wall Mode: Climbing Right to the Waterline
Wall mode is where Beatbot's Gyro Speed Flex roller brushes come into play. They run independently at different speeds, which gives it grip and keeps it efficient on the climb. Watching it go straight up the wall, scrubbing all the way to the waterline, is still impressive a year on.
On the walls it uses an N-shaped pattern so it doesn't miss sections. It's thorough but gentle, and it sticks to the walls well right into the corners.
06Waterline Cleaning & Waterline Parking
Living near Surfers Paradise, I know the waterline is one of the first places dirt and oil build up — sunscreen, body oils, the lot. The AquaSense Pro parks itself along the waterline and scrubs that strip carefully, and for me that's still a game-changer.
The other clever bit is that it finishes up at the waterline. No fishing around on the bottom of the pool with a pole — I just reach down, grab it, and out it comes.
07The App: Modes, Records & OTA Updates
The app still feels like a control centre for the pool. Once the robot's connected you get real-time status — battery, cleaning progress and Wi-Fi connection — plus notifications when the filter basket is full or something needs attention, even when you're not near the pool.
There are four cleaning programs: Quick for days you just want a freshen-up before guests arrive, Standard, Pro for the full deep clean across every surface including the waterline, and Eco for lighter maintenance cleaning at longer intervals. There's a cleaning records history to keep on top of maintenance, and over-the-air updates so Beatbot can push new features and tune performance without me doing anything.
The catch: it doesn't talk to the app while it's underwater. You have to wait for it to come back out before the data uploads. The good news is it does download all the information once it surfaces — but don't expect live tracking mid-clean.
08Quiet Running: 9 Motors, 20 Sensors
While it's working I'm still surprised how quiet and smooth it is — I could almost forget it's there. Under the shell there's a nine-motor system and 20 sensors, which is what gives it the stability and control to fine-tune each movement. Powerful, but whisper quiet, so it doesn't spoil the backyard.
09Smart Return, Retrieval & the Filter
Retrieval is just as easy as setup. Once it's done — or when the battery drops below 15% — it automatically returns to the surface and releases excess water, so it's light enough to lift out with one hand. Hook it with the included retrieval hook if you need to, and it's ready for the next session.
Inside is a dual-layer filtration system that catches everything from leaves down to fine particles as small as 150 micrometres. Maintenance is simple: pop open the filter compartment, rinse it with the garden hose, and you're done.

The Verdict & Who It's For
What I love: after a year it's still cleaning the whole pool effectively and quickly. It's one of the few that skims the surface as well as doing the floor, walls and waterline, it's genuinely quiet, the wireless dock makes charging effortless, and it parks at the waterline when it's done so retrieval is a two-second job. The app is smooth and gives full control, and OTA updates mean it keeps improving.
The catches, honestly: the app doesn't connect while it's underwater, so there's no live tracking mid-clean — the data comes through once it surfaces. This is a one-year check-in from everyday use in one pool, not a measured battery-health or wear test, so I can't give you a number on how much the battery has aged. And this is premium gear, priced like it — check the current price before you commit.
Who's it for? Anyone who wants a deep-clean, pristine pool without the hassle — especially if you've got trees and plants dropping leaves on the surface. If your pool only needs an occasional floor vacuum, you may not need everything it does. But if you want one cordless robot that handles the lot, it's as good as it gets.

?Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Beatbot AquaSense Pro still worth it after a year?+
In my Gold Coast pool, yes. After a year of regular use it still cleans the surface, floor, walls and waterline effectively and quickly. I haven't measured battery health, so I can't give a figure on battery ageing — but performance-wise it's still going strong.
Does the Beatbot AquaSense Pro clean the pool surface?+
Yes. Surface cleaning mode moves it along the top of the water, skimming floating leaves and debris before they sink. It's ideal if your pool is surrounded by trees or plants.
Does the Beatbot AquaSense Pro clean the waterline?+
Yes. It parks along the waterline and scrubs the strip where sunscreen, oil and dirt build up, and it also finishes its cycle at the waterline so it's easy to grab.
How do you charge the Beatbot AquaSense Pro?+
It uses a wireless charging dock — you just sit it on the dock, with no cables or plugs. An LED panel on the robot shows the battery level in real time.
Can you control the AquaSense Pro from the app while it's in the pool?+
No. The app doesn't connect while it's underwater, so you choose the program — Quick, Standard, Pro or Eco — before it goes in. Once it surfaces it uploads its cleaning data, and the app sends notifications such as when the filter basket is full.
How do you get the Beatbot AquaSense Pro out of the pool?+
When it finishes, or when the battery drops below 15%, it returns to the surface and releases excess water so it's lighter to lift. It parks at the waterline, and there's an included retrieval hook if you need it.
How do you clean the AquaSense Pro filter?+
Pop open the filter compartment and rinse the dual-layer filter with a garden hose. It catches everything from leaves down to particles as small as 150 micrometres.
