This is the view I wake up to every single morning here on the Gold Coast. The NAVEE ST3 Pro is a folding commuter electric scooter built around a high-strength steel frame — 25.3kg of proper machine, not a kid's toy. It runs a 350W motor with three ride modes, dual damping arm suspension front and rear, 10-inch tubeless self-sealing tyres, triple braking and a 48V 596Wh battery good for up to 75km on Eco. 02Unboxing & Build Quality

Open the box and you get the scooter, the charger and the manual. That's it. A couple of screws, five minutes, and you're riding. But the moment you pick it up you understand where the money went. That high-strength steel frame tells you straight away — no creak, no flex, none of that hollow plasticky feeling you get on the cheap ones. At 25.3kg it's a proper machine, and when I lean my weight into it, nothing gives. It feels squared off and planted, the way something you're about to do 30km/h on absolutely should.

And here's the clever bit for a frame that tough — watch how it folds. There's a latch, you drop the stem, it hooks onto the rear, and that's it. Flat, done in seconds. Straight into the boot, which is exactly how it got to the shoot today. No wrestling it, no hunting for the right angle. Same story sliding it into the cargo bay of the RV. Strong enough to trust, small enough to take anywhere.

03The Nerang River Path: Where the Suspension Sold Me

I started on the Nerang River path, because this is where the ST3 Pro first made a big impression. If you've walked or ridden that path you know it's not a billiard table — joins in the concrete, little lips where the slabs have lifted, tree roots pushing up underneath, rough patches everywhere. On most scooters every one of those hits comes straight up through the bars into your wrists and up through your legs.

Not here. I rolled right over the lot and it just swallowed them. That's the dual damping arm suspension, front and rear, and honestly it's the whole story of this scooter. Get down close to it and you can watch the arm actually flex and take the hit before it ever reaches me. The 10-inch tyres are helping, no question, but the suspension is doing the heavy lifting. I rode that entire stretch and my hands weren't buzzing and my knees weren't complaining. That's worth more to me than any number printed on the side of a box.

04Power, Acceleration & the Three Ride Modes

Now here's the thing nobody warned me about. First time I stepped on and squeezed the throttle, this thing took off. It genuinely caught me out. It doesn't build up — it just goes. That's 350W of max power, and it is not a patient machine. So my advice, hand on heart: ease onto that throttle for the first few rides. Get to know it, because it'll launch quicker than your brain expects, and you don't want that surprise when you're not ready for it.

Once it's in your hands and you understand it, though, it's the best feeling on this scooter. You think "go" and you've already gone. I've seen a few reviews claim the ST3 Pro is slow off the mark — I've no idea what they're riding, because mine flat out launches.

You get three ride modes, and you roll through them by double-clicking the power button. Eco is your gentle cruise and the mode that unlocks the massive range. Standard sits in the middle, a touch more urgent but still nice and controlled — that's where I live most of the time. Sport hands you the full punch off the line and runs you right to top speed. Here on the Gold Coast we keep it legal at 25km/h, and that's plenty for cutting through the streets or along the esplanade.

05The Real Commute: Surfers Paradise

Let me bring you to my actual morning run, because this is the everyday problem the ST3 Pro quietly kills. I use a gym over in Surfers Paradise. Driving there is an annoying trip — the road fills up with people, there's construction noise, traffic stopping constantly. On the scooter I don't have to think about any of it. I jump on and ride straight along the path all the way to Surfers, on to Broadbeach, down towards Burleigh if I feel like it.

And that's the part I love most: being able to ride it in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Beaches on one side, the bike path running the length of it, parklands to cut through. Whether you're on the paths, crossing grass or riding over rough ground, the give in this thing is what makes it work.

06Braking, Traction & Weather Resistance

Safety is built into every part of this thing. Braking first, and there's a triple setup working for you: a front drum brake, a rear disc brake and rear EABS electronic braking, all together. It's controlled, there's no drama, and the back end doesn't snake out from underneath you.

Underneath that there's TSCS traction control managing grip for you, so on one of those damp Gold Coast mornings down by the water it isn't stepping out and giving you a fright. The tyres are 10-inch tubeless and self-sealing with a puncture-resistant layer built right in — fewer flats, fewer ruined wet rides. And the whole scooter is IPX5 weather rated, so a bit of coastal drizzle or a wet path doesn't faze it. It's built to get rained on. Just don't go dunking it in the Broadwater.

07Range & Battery: The Broadwater Run

The 48V smart battery is 596Wh, 12.75Ah, and gives you up to 75km on Eco. Sit with that for a second — that's a week of short commutes done on one charge, or a full week cruising the coast without a second thought. There's no range anxiety in this thing. I filmed this entire review riding all over the Gold Coast and not once did I look down worried about where the next charge was coming from.

There's a smart BMS in there guarding the battery too — overcharge protection, short-circuit protection and overheat protection — so you can leave it on charge and trust it, which isn't something you can say about every scooter out there. When it does need topping up it's around 10 hours from flat, so I put it on overnight and it's full and ready the next morning.

08The Hill Climb: No Run-Up

Let me find a hill, because this is exactly where the cheap ones expose themselves. There's a proper climb near me and I took it from the very bottom with no run-up at all. Watch it dig in. It's rated to handle gradients up to 20%, and those 350W mean it does not sag and die halfway and leave you walking. It holds its pace, drags itself right to the top, and keeps going like the hill was never there. That's what real power does on Australian hills.

09The NAVEE App: AirLock & Find My

This is where the ST3 Pro gets clever. It pairs straight to your phone through the NAVEE app, and the feature I'm most thankful for is AirLock — auto-unlock. I walk up to the scooter with my phone in my pocket and it unlocks itself. I walk away and it locks itself back up. No keys, no codes, no fiddling around.

It also has Apple Find My built right in, so the scooter lives on the network like a set of AirPods or your keys and you can see exactly where it is at any moment. As a theft deterrent and just for peace of mind, that's properly brilliant.

In the app itself you get your remaining mileage and battery percentage — mine was showing 42km left at 56% while I was filming — plus your riding records, a lock toggle, light settings (tail light, auto headlight), energy recovery levels, unit settings, ambient lighting, anti-slip, over-speed control and Find My Scooter. There's a clean black display on the scooter itself too, with your speed and battery sitting right there in front of you.

10Comfort, Payload & Cruise Control

I've been on this thing for hours at a time filming, and between the suspension soaking up the road and the 10-inch tyres underneath me, I'm not getting beaten up out there. The grip sits nicely in the hand and the deck gives you proper room to plant your feet. It carries up to 120kg of payload, so it'll happily take a heavier rider plus a backpack, the shopping, whatever you've got. I put real weight on it and it didn't so much as flinch.

As for riding it, this is a scooter you master in about two minutes. Step on, give it a kick, get rolling, ease on the throttle and away you go. Hold a steady speed for a few seconds and cruise control kicks in on its own — on a long straight run down the esplanade, that's a gift. No thumb fatigue, just cruising. Folding it, carrying it, parking it: all dead simple. The only thing I'll say one more time is respect that acceleration in the early days. Once you've got the feel of it, the whole thing is effortless.

11Night Riding at Surfers Paradise

Riding the path along the water after dark, with the lights of Surfers Paradise reflecting off it, is honestly one of the nicest things I've done filming a review. And the ST3 Pro is properly kitted out for it. You've got a bright headlight up front, a rear tail light, indicators built right in, and ambient side lighting running along the deck — so you're lit up and visible to drivers and pedestrians from every angle.

The indicators are the standout for me: people can actually see you're about to turn, which on a shared path at night is a genuine safety win, not a gimmick. And the headlight throws far enough that I could clearly light up something around 20 metres ahead. You want people to see you coming, and you want to see where you're going. This does both.
