Same easy fit on both — you'd never pick which one I'm wearing from across the room. The Pro then adds ELEHEAR's latest processing engine, a proper music mode, and one feature I'll come back to that genuinely changes TV night.

02Fit & Pairing: Genuinely Zero Fiddling

Watch how easy these are to get going, because it's identical on both. Take them out of the case, pop them behind your ear, and that's it — they're already paired. The second they leave the case they're connected to your phone and working. No buttons, no sequence to remember, nothing to hold down. If you're buying these for a parent, that one detail matters more than half the spec sheet.

And can you actually see them? Barely. They're practically invisible behind the ear — people are not going to clock that you're wearing them. Straight away I could hear noticeably clearer than I could before; the amplification just kicks in. That's how far OTC hearing aids have come.

03Tinnitus Masking on Both

Both units have tinnitus masking built into the app — soft rain, ambient wind, thunderstorms, fire. I can fine-tune the environmental noise level right there while it's happening.

The Beyond handles TV well in its normal TV mode. It's good. But if your number one problem in life is hearing the telly from across the room, Remote Sound Capture on the Pro is the thing that fixes it. For anyone who keeps creeping the volume up — and whose family keeps creeping it back down — that alone is a big deal.

07The App: The Most Comprehensive I've Tested

I'll say it plainly — this is the most comprehensive app I've seen on any hearing aid, and honestly on any earbuds. You pair over Bluetooth 5.3, which stays stable for music, video and calls, and the app runs an in-app hearing test that builds a personalised sound profile. No clinic, no appointment — about 10 to 15 minutes sat on my own couch.

That profile is the whole game. It's tuning these to your ears rather than a one-size-fits-all setting. On top of that you can turn the left and right aid up independently, there's tone control so you can dial it to your own hearing, and you can push noise control to maximum and watch the whole environment drop away. The tinnitus soundscapes live in here too, and it even reads the live environmental noise level — when I talk it sits around 40 and adapts on the fly. The Pro's app has had a redesign as well, so it's clean and easy to follow even if you're not techy.

08Real-Time AI Translation (20+ Languages)

Here's the feature most people don't expect from a hearing aid: real-time AI translation built into the app, across 20+ languages. It translates as the person is talking and speaks it straight into your ears. No delay.

I demoed it properly on camera — press translation, choose your language, hit listen. I did Italian, because I'm half Italian myself. Someone says they're from Rome and it lands in my ears in English; I reply in English about Brisbane and it comes back the other way. It's live, it's fast, and honestly it was better than a lot of dedicated translation devices I've tested. For travelling, or for talking with someone who doesn't share your language, that's a proper feature rather than a gimmick.

09Music, Calls & Using Them as Earbuds

Because of Bluetooth 5.3, both of these double as your earbuds — calls, video, music straight into your ears with no switching devices. The Pro adds a proper music mode tuned to keep vocals and high-frequency detail intact: the cymbals, the top end, without it turning distorted. For a hearing aid, music actually sounds like music. I streamed Spotify on these on a walk and it's up there with proper earbuds — for something that's technically a medical device, that surprised me.

On calls, despite how noisy it was out there with traffic going past, the noise cancellation meant I couldn't hear the racket around me and could hear the caller perfectly. If you're someone who finds phone calls hard because of your hearing, that's a bigger deal than it sounds on paper.

10Unboxing, Domes & the Glasses Tip

The unboxing is clean and satisfying — pick it up and it feels solid. Inside you get the hearing aids nested in their smart charging case, a full set of ear domes for different ear shapes and sizes, a USB-C charging cable and the accessories you'd expect at this level. Get the right dome and both the fit and the sound are spot on.

Honest tip: if you wear glasses, take a second to get your dome size right so the arm of your glasses and the device aren't fighting for room behind your ear. I used mine with sunglasses on and found it easy enough, and ELEHEAR give you plenty of domes in the box to dial it in. There's also an ELEHEAR air dryer available separately — dries them out overnight and keeps them in good nick.

11Battery, Charging & Lifetime Support

Both are around 20 hours of listening on a single charge. Put them in first thing and they go all day — beach, walk, the lot — and I'm not thinking about charging. Fast charging gives you about 6 hours from a 15-minute top-up, which actually means something before you head out the door. The case holds several extra charges for over 100 hours total, so it carries you right through the week. A recent update also lets you charge them while the case is open, which wasn't possible before — small thing, genuinely practical.
