02Unboxing, Design and Comfort

Inside the box, EarFun gives you everything you need to get started: the Air Pro 4+ earbuds, a wireless charging case, four sets of silicone ear tips, a USB-C charging cable, and the quick start guide and paperwork.

The charging case comes in at around 54 grams. It feels lightweight but solid, with a clamshell design that's easy to flip open one-handed. Wireless charging support is a nice touch at this price point, making it simple to drop onto a charging pad with no cables.

The earbuds follow a familiar stem-style design with a clean matte finish, slightly reshaped to improve overall fit and comfort, driver placement inside each earbud, and the way the nozzle seals in your ear. Each earbud weighs about 5 grams, with a slightly larger bulb than the previous Air Pro 4 — that extra volume comes from the new dual-driver setup: a 10mm dynamic driver for bass and a super-light balanced armature for treble and high-frequency detail.

On the ear, the Air Pro 4+ sit a little further out than some ultra-compact earbuds, but they still feel secure and balanced. The reshaped oval nozzle creates a strong seal without that "pressure fatigue" feeling you can get with cheaper buds — crucial for long listening sessions. They're rated IP55 for dust resistance and protection against light water splashes and sweat; on the Gold Coast, they've handled humid walks, seaside conditions and sweaty gym sessions without issues.

03Setup, EarFun App Features and Smart Controls

Setting up is fast: open the case and the earbuds enter pairing mode automatically, select "EarFun Air Pro 4+" in your phone's Bluetooth settings, then download the EarFun app to unlock all features.

The app is where these earbuds move from "good budget earbuds" to a seriously powerful, customisable package:

Listening Modes
ANC, Transparency & Normal
EQ
10-band custom + presets
Sound Profile
Personalised via hearing test
Controls
Custom taps + long press per bud
Wear Detection
Auto pause/resume
Find My Earbuds
Locate misplaced buds
Codec Priority
Stability vs quality options
Oricast
Broadcast-style audio sharing

Bluetooth 6.0 with multipoint means you can connect to two devices at once — say, your Android phone and your Mac — and switch between them seamlessly. In testing, device switching was smooth and reliable. On iPhone, the app may occasionally glitch during pairing, but it's not a deal-breaker — just keep the app updated. Once connected, everyday use is stable.

04Sound Quality and ANC: Dual Drivers, High-Res & Smart Noise Cancelling

Let's talk about the main event. The Air Pro 4+ use a dual-driver system — a 10mm dynamic driver for punchy, articulate bass and a balanced armature for crisp, detailed highs and cleaner mids. Out of the box, the tuning is warm and clean:

Bass
Real punch and weight without muddying the mix — perfect for EDM, hip-hop & pop
Mids
Clear, present vocals — especially on acoustic and vocal-heavy tracks
Treble
Lifted by the balanced armature — sparkle and clarity without harshness
Soundstage
Open, with good imaging — instruments stay separated, not smeared

During testing, everything from Billie Eilish to Kendrick Lamar to Hans Zimmer soundtracks sounded genuinely impressive for this price range. The built-in 10-band EQ lets you push the tuning further — bass heads can dial in deeper low-end without completely drowning the mids, while detail lovers can lift the upper mids and treble a touch.

On the ANC side, the Air Pro 4+ use EarFun's Smart 3.0 adaptive noise cancelling, promising up to 50dB of noise reduction. In real-world use: on trams and public transport, engine rumble and low-frequency noise are effectively reduced; in cafés or shopping centres, chatter is pushed into the background; and at the beach on the Gold Coast, wind and wave noise are significantly tamed. There are multiple ANC modes too — Wind, Adaptive and Manual — plus a Transparency mode for when you need awareness.

05Mic Quality, Call Clarity and Outdoor Testing

If you take a lot of calls, voice clarity matters as much as music. The Air Pro 4+ pack six microphones per pair, AI beamforming to focus on your voice, and cVc 8.0 noise reduction to cut background sound.

In real-world testing: on the Gold Coast beach, callers could hear the voice clearly with the ocean and wind mostly suppressed; on trams and in busy shopping centres, people on the other end said it sounded like the call was taken in a quieter room. That combination of strong ANC for your ears and smart noise reduction for your voice makes these a solid choice for remote workers, commuters, or anyone who regularly takes calls on the move.

Six mics + AI beamforming kept calls clear even at the beach.

06Battery Life, Durability, Connectivity & Daily Use

Battery is another area where the Air Pro 4+ impress: up to 54 hours of total battery life (case + earbuds), with plenty of playtime per charge for a full day of listening and calls. For most people that means multiple commutes, workouts and listening sessions before needing to plug in — just drop the case on a wireless charger overnight and you're good to go.

The IP55 rating keeps them safe from sweat and light rain, and in testing they stayed stable in the ears during exercise without working loose. With Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint, and the Oricast broadcast feature, they're purpose-built for modern multi-device life — connect to your phone and laptop at the same time, switch between a video on your Mac and a call on your phone, or experiment with shared listening.

07Who Should Buy the EarFun Air Pro 4+?

They're ideal if you are a gym-goer or runner who needs secure fit, punchy sound and sweat resistance; an Android user who wants high-res audio support and advanced features on a budget; a commuter or traveller who relies on ANC to make journeys quieter; a student or remote worker who takes regular calls and needs clear mic quality; or an audio-value hunter who wants dual drivers, a 10-band EQ, and a packed feature set under $100. If you just want one pair of earbuds to do almost everything — workouts, calls, commuting, casual listening — these sit in a very attractive sweet spot.

08vs Air Pro 4, AirPods Pro 3 and Other Rivals

EarFun Air Pro 4+ vs EarFun Air Pro 4

The Air Pro 4+ is a clear step up from the original: better sound with dual drivers and more detailed treble, tighter bass and more refined tuning, improved fit and stability thanks to the reshaped design and oval nozzle, and more serious codec support for high-res fans. If you own the Air Pro 4 and love them, the 4+ will feel like a natural, worthwhile upgrade.

EarFun Air Pro 4+ vs AirPods Pro 3

Compared to the Apple AirPods Pro 3, the EarFun obviously don't include Apple's Spatial Audio or the full Apple ecosystem magic (instant device switching inside iCloud, and so on). But here's the key point: you're spending at least half the price and getting around 90% of the experience in terms of sound, ANC and comfort. For Android users in particular, that's a very compelling trade-off.

EarFun Air Pro 4+ vs Other Budget ANC Earbuds

Even against other budget and mid-range ANC earbuds — like well-known models from Soundcore or Skullcandy — the Air Pro 4+ hold their own: they edge out many rivals on codec support and high-res readiness, their tuning balances punchy bass with clear mids and treble, and you get a stacked app feature set (EQ, hearing profile, multipoint, Oricast, Wear Detection, Find My Earbuds).

One of the best new earbuds in the under-$100 category

Final Verdict: Are the EarFun Air Pro 4+ Worth It?

After testing them across beach walks, gym sessions, tram rides, shopping centres and home listening, it's fair to say the EarFun Air Pro 4+ are one of the best new earbuds in the under-$100 category. If you want a feature-packed, high-value pair that can genuinely challenge much pricier models — especially on Android — they're very easy to recommend.
