01What Is the CASEKOO StandKOO?
The StandKOO is an iPhone 17 Pro Max case with a 360° magnetic stand built into the back of it. 02Out of the Box & On the Phone
Mine's the darker StandKOO and I reckon it looks fantastic. Clean, premium finish, sharp frame, and the profile is still nice and slim — it does not turn the iPhone 17 Pro Max into some giant rugged brick. That matters to me. I film here on the Gold Coast, I'm at the beach, I'm at the gym, I'm very active using these, and I want the phone to still look good while it's being protected.
On the phone the fit feels good. The bottom lines up properly, the cutouts are clean, and there's raised protection around the camera — which is the bit that counts, because that camera bump on the 17 Pro Max is not something you want meeting concrete, tiles or a café bench. There are raised edges around the front too, so if you put it face down it lands flat and the screen gets some breathing room.
03The Magic Stand: 360° That Actually Locks
This is the whole point of the case. Pull the stand out and straight away you can stand the phone sideways — watching YouTube, checking footage back. Spin it and you've got it vertical, or anywhere in between: a full 360°, locked at the angle you want.
Here's what separates it from the cheap ones. It doesn't feel like some stand glued on the back. It folds flat into its own crease so the profile stays clean, and when you pull it out it holds — no slow droop halfway through a video. That's the four-way locking frame doing its job, and it's the difference between a feature you use every day and a lump on the back you regret.
04Desk Test: My Own Portable Office
First real scenario, the desk. Sideways, no problem. Vertical, no problem. I can tap the screen without the whole thing tipping over, check emails, go through comments, play video back. This is exactly where I use a stand most — phone down, propped up, and I can actually get on with things instead of holding it. It turns into my own portable office.
05Couch & Kitchen: Where People Actually Use a Phone

Same for video calls. I'll prop it on the stand when I want my hands free, then pick it up and hold it when I'm actually talking to someone. Both ways work, and that's the bit I like — the stand adds an option, it doesn't take one away.
07MagSafe: Chargers, Car Mounts & a Metal Pole
I use MagSafe chargers and car mounts, so the magnets have to be strong or the whole thing's pointless. On the charger it snaps straight on, which is exactly what you want — no hunting for the sweet spot, and no taking the case off to charge.
Then I got a bit silly with it. There's a metal pole down by the river, so I stuck the phone straight to it and filmed myself talking to you — no tripod, no hands. It held, in both orientations, and I could flip it around and keep going. Fridge, pole, car mount, charger: if it's metal or magnetic, the phone's staying put.
08Drop Protection: The Pocket-Height Test
Looking good is important, but protection is why you buy a case in the first place. So I did the drop that actually happens to people — pocket height. Pull the phone out, it slips, it hits the ground. Picked it up: phone looked good, camera looked good, the case had done its job. Every test I did, the phone was fine. That's what you need for a two-grand phone.

After a few days on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the StandKOO makes a lot of sense. The finish is clean, the profile stays slim, the camera and screen edges are properly raised, and the MagSafe magnets snap on hard enough for a charger, a car mount or a metal pole. But the stand is the thing. It spins a full 360°, it locks where you put it, and it disappears flat into the case when you don't want it. In the apartment I can watch videos, film myself, take calls. In the kitchen I can watch something while I'm cooking. At the beach I can use it while filming. It works.
The catches, honestly: this is a few days of real use, not a six-month test — a moving part gets used thousands of times, and CASEKOO's 50,000-cycle rating is their number, not one I've verified. My drop testing was the everyday stuff (pocket height, bench, couch), not a two-storey stunt, so read it as "survives real life," not "indestructible." The clear back will pick up marks over time like every clear case does. And if you never prop your phone up, you're paying for a mechanism you won't touch — the LinKOO is probably your case instead.
