SYLVOX 65" Frameless Pro Review: A Full-Sun Outdoor TV Built to Live Outside

MrYouWho
Real-World Tech Reviews

Okay — am I crazy enough to throw a bucket of water on a TV? Let's have a look. What's sitting behind me at the pool is genuinely one of the most exciting products I've ever tested: an actual television, outside, in the Queensland heat, in the rain, in the sun — and you can watch it crystal clear. No glare, no worrying about the weather, no dragging it inside when it starts raining. Just sit down, turn it on, and start watching. This is the SYLVOX 65" Frameless Pro outdoor TV, and it's a game-changer for anyone who loves being outside.

And as you know, at MrYouWho we don't just sit in a studio and read spec sheets — we test it, use it, and demo it in the real world, right here at the Gold Coast pool, so you know exactly what you're getting before you spend a dollar.

02Unboxing & Setup: A Rolling Cart in the Box

The TV arrives well packaged and solid — and with a rolling TV cart included, which I have to say is a really smart option. The cart assembles easily, rolls out smoothly, locks in place, and the TV sits on it solidly. SYLVOX makes the Frameless Pro in four sizes — 43", 55", 65", and 75" — and I've got the 65" here. Standing next to it, this is a serious screen.

Round the back, the ports are all sealed behind a protective cover — HDMI, USB, ethernet, everything you need, all protected from the elements. Open the cover, connect what you need, close it back up. Sensible outdoor-TV design. And the rolling cart gives you real flexibility: I moved it from inside to outside, to the pool, around the deck. For anyone who doesn't want to permanently mount it, this is a great option.

03Frameless Design: A Floating Screen

Look at the bezel — it's nearly invisible, a 95% screen-to-body ratio. Outdoors in the sun it looks like a floating screen; there's almost nothing around the picture, which makes a massive difference because there's nothing pulling your eye away from what you're watching.

04Picture Quality in Full Queensland Sun

Brightness is where outdoor TVs live or die. The Frameless Pro runs at 2,000 nits — and to put that in perspective, your typical TV sits around 300–400 nits, so this is roughly six times brighter. In full Queensland sun, middle of the day, the picture is crystal clear: not washing out, not straining to see, just clear. The anti-glare coating is working too — I moved around to different angles with the sun coming from different directions, and there's no reflection killing the picture. That's the thing that ruins most screens outdoors, and this TV handles it really well.

The 4K content genuinely impressed me — the highlights, the shadows, the colour depth. This is not a compromised outdoor picture; it's a proper 4K picture that happens to be outside. There's Dolby Atmos built in on the audio side too, and the operating range runs from -22°F up to 122°F. In Australian terms: extreme cold, extreme heat, it handles everything. Built for the Australian climate.

05The Waterproof Test: I Sprayed Water Straight on It

Now the fun part — the waterproofing. The TV is IP56 rated, which means it's protected against powerful water jets from any direction. So I poured water directly onto the screen, all over it, down the sides, around the back — and the picture stayed perfect, still running, still clear, not a flicker. Then I put a high-pressure jet on it. No issues at all.

I also left it out during an actual Gold Coast storm — left it running, didn't move it, didn't cover it — and it was still perfect the next morning. The triple-sealed interior seals every joint, gap, and connection point against moisture, mould, and salt air. And the remote is IP66 rated, so you can literally drop it in the pool and it still works. This thing is built to live outside permanently — not occasionally, permanently.

06Google TV & Apps: Everything Built In

This is where it gets good for everyday use. It's got Google TV built in, which means over 700,000 movies and shows — Netflix, YouTube, Prime, Disney, Apple, Spotify, all of it — with no external streaming boxes needed. Navigating Google TV is fast and easy, and you can voice search by holding the button: "Hey Google," and it finds what you want. Chromecast is built in too, so I can throw content from my phone straight to the screen.

The AI wallpaper is a nice touch — I selected a mountains background, and outdoors by the pool it actually looks stunning. The TV turns into almost a piece of art when you're not watching it; you can even put family photos up there if you want.

07Movie & Sport Night at the Pool

This is what you're actually buying an outdoor TV for. I had the family over, set up by the pool, sun going down, watching a movie on a 65" screen outdoors — this is what entertaining is meant to be. Nobody's squinting, nobody's straining to hear, nobody's worried about the weather. The picture is genuinely cinematic outdoors: look at the colour depth, the contrast, the detail.

And sport at the pool is something else entirely — fast movement, smooth motion, no blur, no lag. Fast breaks, corners, tackles, the ball moving quickly, all of it sharp and smooth. I watched it with Pops for a couple of hours, with that beautiful outlook over the Gold Coast and the Nerang River. A premium television, in a premium location.

08The Elf S3 Outdoor Soundbar

The TV has built-in Dolby Atmos speakers and they're decent for an outdoor screen, but SYLVOX also sent the Elf S3 outdoor soundbar, and it's worth showing what it adds. It's IP65 waterproof, so the soundbar lives outside permanently alongside the TV — no bringing it in when it rains. You get 120W peak power and Dolby Atmos 2.1-channel audio, and it fills the outdoor space properly; it isn't just background noise. This is a proper cinema outside.

It connects via HDMI ARC — one cable, and the TV remote controls the volume. There are sports, movie, music, and news modes, and switching between them makes a genuine difference to how the content sounds. For the complete outdoor setup — TV on the rolling cart, soundbar underneath, pull it behind you — this is a proper entertainment system, and I absolutely love it.

The one to get for a permanent outdoor TV

My Honest Verdict

For anyone wanting a permanent outdoor TV in Australia — pool area, deck, backyard, outdoor entertaining space — this is it. The brightness handles full Queensland sun, the weatherproofing handles everything the climate throws at it, the picture quality is genuinely impressive, and Google TV means you've got everything built in without any extra boxes. The rolling cart is a fantastic flexibility option, and the Elf S3 soundbar completes the setup beautifully.

What to be aware of: this is a premium product at a premium price. You're paying for the weatherproofing, the brightness, the build quality, and the longevity of a TV that lives outside permanently. If you want something that genuinely works outdoors long-term, this is the one. I was impressed by SYLVOX in Sydney last year — I'm even more impressed now, having put it through a proper real-world test here on the Gold Coast.

11Frequently Asked Questions

Is the SYLVOX Frameless Pro really waterproof?+

Yes — it's IP56 rated against powerful water jets from any direction. I poured water directly over the screen and put a high-pressure jet on it with no issues, and left it running through an actual Gold Coast storm overnight — perfect the next morning. The interior is triple-sealed against moisture, mould, and salt air, and the remote is separately IP66 rated.

Can you actually see it in direct sunlight?+

Yes. At 2000 nits it's about six times brighter than a typical 300–400 nit TV. In full midday Queensland sun the 4K picture stayed crystal clear, and the anti-glare coating held up across different viewing angles without reflections washing it out.

Do I need a streaming box?+

No. Google TV is built in with 700,000+ movies and shows — Netflix, YouTube, Prime, Disney, Apple, Spotify and more — plus Chromecast and voice search via the remote. There's also HDMI, USB, and ethernet behind a sealed cover.

Does it come with a stand or do I have to mount it?+

This unit came with a rolling TV cart included, which assembles easily and locks in place — great if you don't want to permanently mount it and want to move it around the deck or pool. SYLVOX also offers wall and ceiling mounts.

What does the Elf S3 soundbar add?+

The TV has built-in Dolby Atmos speakers, but the Elf S3 (IP65 waterproof, 120W peak, Dolby Atmos 2.1-channel) fills an outdoor space properly rather than acting as background noise. It connects over HDMI ARC with one cable, the TV remote controls volume, and it has sports, movie, music, and news modes. It lives outside permanently alongside the TV.
