How to Measure Ring Size

One of the main questions that has been coming up from our subscribers at Mr.YouWho is how can you figure out the size of a ring that you are ordering online.

Today we are going to look at a couple of the best and easiest ways to find your ring size and all you need is a ruler, some paper and a piece of string! We will also well give you some handy hints on how to compare sizes across the world. As you are probably aware there are different measurements whether you are in Australia, North America, Europe or anywhere else in the world.

To help you further we will also have links to resources and PDFs in the links below.

We also have a Youtube how to video: https://youtu.be/I8gQjKkKZG0, which is shown below:

There are 2 things to look at:

  • Size of your knuckle If you know your knuckle is on the larger side, you should order half a size bigger than what your finger alone indicates, otherwise you won’t be able slide a ring into the right place.
  • Make multiple tries for accuracy. Make sure you measure your finger three to four different times because the size actually fluctuates depending on temperature: It can be bigger if you are hot or smaller if you are cold.

You can also view our range of rings at Mr.YouWho Rings.

To start with let’s look at what I would say is the easiest way to measure the ring size.

1. String or Floss & Ruler

It is easy to measure your ring size using either string or, perhaps a more common item in your home, floss. Take one of these and wrap it around the base of your finger, marking where the string or floss first overlaps with a pen. Then, line that up with a ruler and take down its length in millimeters.

Now taking the mm compare it with the ring size chart which is shown below.

If the ring falls between two sizes, select the larger of the two

Now the above sizes are for the USA, if you are looking at other countries, please use the corresponding size chart which is also shown here International Ring Size Chart

Just be careful with this though, string and floss can stretch so make sure you take this into account when choosing the size

2. If you own a ring

If you already own a ring the simplest way could be is measuring the inside diameter of the ring.

Measure the inside of the ring with a ruler or tape measure. This will give you the diameter and then again all you need is to put the measurements into the ring size chart.

3. Using a ring chart such as the one below.

This is quite straightforward although the challenge I have is that if you print out the page wrong you may have the ring sizes different to what you actually measure. We have attached a link below but again we suggest you be wary with this.

Make sure you match the inside edge of the ring with the closest circle.  This is the inside diameter of the ring. 3. If the ring falls between two sizes, select the larger of the two

4. Another Way

If you’re worried about one of the above strategies not being completely accurate you can purchase your own ring-measurement tool. They don’t tend to be expensive, and there are many options online so, again, you don’t have to leave your house to get this step accomplished.

We suggest either a Steel Ring Guage that allows you to put the rings in the metal rings to measure, or a thin tape that you can put around your ring to measure

Never received it

I never received my purchase

Great watch, great price.

This is a quality wrist watch, not a cheap imitation. It looks just as it is advertised, it keeps impeccable time, and the weight of the watch feels like it should, solid and is an asset to my daily dress wardrobe.

Order missing

Its been almost a month and have not received my order, also haven’t received any updates via email about the tracking etc.

Well I haven't recieved it yet, keeping up with the tracking and hope to get it soon, thanks

Still waiting ............

I was emailed a request by the merchant to rate the ring I purchased three weeks ago. However, I have yet to receive. I am still going to rate my purchase Five stars in hopes that I receive my ring and it looks as good in person as it does in pictures. I realize this item is delivered from China and
hope that’s the reason for its delay. Fingers crossed.
